We may be partial to the Red River Gorge area (where we got engaged)... but there are so many options that can become part of your love story. 5. The Henry Clay Estate
We love the convenient and picturesque scenery of The Henry Clay Estate! There are secluded gardens, historic architecture, walking trails, and beautifully mature trees. We suggest checking out the grounds to find the perfect place for you because there is so much variety. Our favorite time of the year here is in April when white clover blooms across the whole lawn. 4. Castle & Key Distillery
If your relationship includes an interest in bourbon, you might consider a distillery proposal! Castle & Key is one of the most romantic and unique locations with recognizable architecture and cohesive, enchanting grounds. The original owner of the distillery prioritized beauty over budget when designing this space which makes for the most memorable proposal backdrop. We love the juxtaposition of old world charm with functional industrial elements. So pretty!!
3. Headley-Whitney Museum
If you as a couple are interested in art and local Kentucky culture, the Headley-Whitney Museum is a unique house-turned-museum. There are rose gardens, art galleries, and a cute little sun room ordained with seashells! We love how quirky and unexpected this location is for a proposal. There is something so dreamy about getting engaged after looking at thoughtfully curated art! There are so many urban backdrops to use for a unique proposal in downtown Lexington... if you want to get creative! From the many rooftops with views of the city... to cute parks surrounded by historic homes... to the hidden oasis known as The Apiary! This opulent gem of a venue is tucked away off main street. The Apiary is utilized differently every day: weddings, events, and sometimes even bespoke dinning with different themes and seasonal menus. While logistics might be slightly challenging if you select this locations, the space is so memorable it would certainly be unforgettable. We recommend following their instagram for the most up to date information about upcoming dates which are open to the public. Reservations and a fancy outfit are both a must!

If you want to get engaged in the most Kentucky way possible... consider selecting Keeneland for your proposal backdrop! The grounds scream elegance like nowhere else. We love how accessible this location is year-round... we also love how the beauty is maintained and curated around every corner! There is always something going on at Keeneland: yearling sales, horse auctions, and historic races are all popular events to consider planning your engagement around... or, you could opt for something more intimate by avoiding these highly attended events. The grounds are open every day for morning workouts which makes planning the perfect day easy. We love an early morning sunrise at the track followed by breakfast at their famous kitchen. This location is so versatile!
